Participation Policy

Fieldale-Collinsville Middle School 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students must pass 3 of 4 core classes at the end of each nine weeks to be eligible for the subsequent nine weeks. Sixth-grade students will be allowed to try out for all FCMS teams except for football.

ALL STUDENTS MUST PASS MATH AND ENGLISH AT THE END OF EACH NINE WEEKS TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE SUBSEQUENT NINE WEEKS!

Students who were promoted - not placed - to the seventh grade are automatically eligible to play for the first nine-week grading period. Students who were placed in the seventh grade are not eligible to participate in the first nine-week period. However, they may participate if they meet eligibility requirements beginning in the second nine-week period.

Students cannot miss more than five (5) days from school per nine-week period. Students missing more than five days may appeal if a documented hardship situation can be presented to the school principal. In order to be considered for a hardship waiver, any absences beyond five days must be for medical reasons and be documented by a medical/doctor excuse.

Students who reach the age of 15 on or before August 31st of the current school year are not eligible.

Students may not participate for a period lasting longer than four (4) consecutive semesters, beginning with entry into seventh grade.

Students will not be allowed to participate, practice, or play in any athletic activity during any documented internal or external suspension period.

Two (2) external suspensions during any sports season will result in automatic dismissal from the team.

In addition to the above criteria, any student wishing to participate MUST have a current physical, a signed athletic handbook page, and insurance information on file with the school.
